GE separately announced that it had been told that the US Department of Justice (DoJ) had filed a proposed consent decree on the mattter. "These clearances pave the way for GE to complete the transaction as early as possible in the fourth quarter," said a statement.
The EC said the US industrial giant could proceed with the acquisition after both parties offered concessions in the heavy-duty gas turbine sector – the focus of a full-scale competition probe that has held up completion of the trans-Atlantic deal.
