The memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government covers the next five years, said a statement from SunEdison, with local reports suggesting the plan is for 1.2GW of the capacity to be solar and the rest wind.
India is a key target for SunEdison as the company looks to high-growth foreign markets to complement its US business. It has also set up a yieldco, TerraForm Global, specifically focusing on opportunities in such regions.
