Vestas unveils V136-3.45 MW turbine for higher output, less noise

Danish wind group Vestas has unveiled the V136-3.45 MW turbine, a model it claims will “raise the bar for low-wind site performance”.

The turbine, the latest variant of the OEM’s 3MW platform, marries Vestas’ Large Diameter Steel Tower technology and its latest blade design.

The V136 offers an annual energy production boost of more than 10% on the V126-3.3 MW while also lowering noise emissions, Vestas said.

Performance at lower-wind sites and reduced noise are a particular focus in the German onshore market, where development is shifting towards inland sites southern Germany.
