The new vessel, being custom-built at the Kleven shipyard in Norway, will feature a single direct current circuit for ship propulsion to curb power consumption, roll-reduction tanks for stability and laying accuracy, and remotely operated vehicles outfitted with cameras and sonar to streamline diver-free installation work.

The vessel, a SALT 306 CLV design from Norway's Salt Ship, will use computer-controlled "dynamic positioning" for station-keeping, and high-power monitoring hardware and software to send data to shore via a satellite link.
