Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) figures showed wind alone met 10.7% of UK supply needs in the April-June period, with coal capacity on 20.5% and nuclear with 21.5%. Only gas with 30% supplied more than renewables.
Renewable output was more than 50% higher than in the same quarter in 2014, with onshore and offshore wind generation growing 61.5% and 70.4%
