Abate – a Recharge Thought Leader – will move from his existing role as CEO of GE’s Power Generation unit to replace current CTO Mark Little, who retires at the end of the year.
Abate led the renewable energy business of the US industrial giant between 2005 and 2013, when he was succeeded by current divisional CEO Anne McEntee.
Little said his replacement as GE CTO had "built a multi-billion dollar wind business from the ground up".
