The Kriegers Flak Combined Grid Solution (CGS) will establish a 400MW link between the east Danish region of Sjælland and Germany's Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, bolstering integration of the two country's power grids.

That interconnection will come via Denmark's planned 600MW Kriegers Flak and Germany's already-operating 288MW Baltic 2 offshore wind farms – the first time such a project has been implemented.

Boris Schucht, CEO of German transmission system operator (TSO) 50Hertz, described the CGS as a "nucleus for an offshore grid in the Baltic Sea, a milestone in the development of European grids".
