The partners expect to start constructing the A$140m ($101.5m) project — arguably the highest-profile deal announced since the ouster of former Prime Minister Tony Abbott ushered in a more positive outlook for the Australian renewables sector — at some point after June 2016, according to a statement on Canberra-based Windlab’s website.

The 50/50 joint venture will develop the plant at the Kennedy Energy Park in the town of Hughenden, northern Queensland.
