In the maturing wind sector, the battle for connection points resulted in just 548MW being contracted at the last auction of 2015. With more than 17GW shortlisted to bid, it wasn't for lack of interest by developers.
In the whole of 2015 – taking into account the three tenders held by the government – just 1.18GW of wind was contracted, the lowest amount since 2012, when only 246MW was signed up because of unrealistically low cap prices and regulatory uncertainty that affected investors' appetites.
