Vestas paid $60m in cash for UpWind, which has 310 employees and is expected to generate $55m of consolidated revenue in 2015.
The acquisition, effective immediately, will have only a “limited effect” on Vestas’s 2015 results, with no change to its revenue or margin guidance, the company says.
San Diego-based UpWind is currently contracted to look after 3GW of wind capacity in nine US states.
