Siemens says new HVDC technology will ease transition to renewables

In October, the German industrial giant won a €900m ($976.7m) order from transmission system operators Amprion and TransnetBW to build two converter stations that will use the technology.

Ultranet is one of three HVDC lines that will bring electricity from Germany's windy north to industrial centres in the south, and is deemed a key element in making the country's energy transition work.
