The high-voltage direct current (HVDC) LitPol Link is the last leg of the EU’s Baltic Ring initiative tying together the grids of nine countries around the Baltic Sea — Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia.

The interconnector is designed to open up power trading between Lithuania and western neighbour Poland, as well as establishing new regional cross-border energy sources.
