Three space-constrained states in southern New England – Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island – last year launched a Request for Proposal (RFP) for at least 5,000GWh of renewable power, or about 600MW of installed capacity, as they look to clean up their energy supply and replace aging power plants.

The scale of the proposals unveiled this week by many of North America’s most prominent renewables developers highlights the tremendous potential for renewable energy in the underutilized northeast, and particularly for wind power in Maine.
