The Norwegian facility will serve as assembly base for the five 6MW Siemens turbines and the Hywind foundations that will comprise the world’s first floating wind array in depths of more than 100 metres off Scotland.
The contract, which enters its main phase from January 2017, is valued by Norsea at NKr50m-70m ($5.8m-$8.1m).
Norsea had already worked with compatriot group Statoil on the Hywind 1 demonstrator project off the Norwegian coast, and has invested in Stordbase as a wind turbine assembly hub.
