Orix joined existing partners in the project SB Energy – the renewables arm of telecoms giant Softbank – and construction group Komatsuzaki.
The entry of Orix should give fresh impetus to the Kashima project, which has not released a schedule for its construction.
The Kashima wind farm is planned as a near-shore, fixed foundation project using 20 5MW wind turbines – with Hitachi tipped as the likely turbine supplier.
