After spending years in the doldrums, Alberta's renewables market looks set to become one of the hottest in Canada, following the western province's election last year of a green-minded premier, Rachel Notley, and her embrace of a 30% renewables target for 2030.

Alberta, home to the oil sands, has pledged to phase out coal entirely by the end of next decade – with renewables lined up to replace two-thirds of the shuttered capacity.
