The company’s US subsidiary, Gaelectric North America, paid $3.5m for space on Bonneville Power Administration's transmission system that it hopes to use by 2014.

Gaelectric is developing a 100-mile-long connector line in Montana from Great Falls to Townsend, where it will tie into BPA’s 500 kilovolt Colstrip transmission line. Gaelectric’s partner in that venture is Tonbridge Power, based in Toronto.

Tonbridge is building a 214-mile-long line between Great Falls and Lethbridge, Alberta Province, in Canada, that will also provide transmission capacity for wind power development.
