The ‘blockage effect’ whose potential impact on output sent shares in offshore wind giant Orsted plunging last year is an issue for onshore projects too, industry experts said.

Orsted revealed in October that it was cutting previous production forecasts for a clutch of offshore wind farms, based on new analysis that suggested it had underestimated the impact of blockage and wake effects on output from part of its operating fleet.
