Dominion Energy has not decided what turbine to employ in its planned US industry-leading $7.8bn, 2.64GW array off the southern coast of Virginia but is considering models from 8MW to 12MW nameplate capacity, the utility told Recharge.

Local press reports and at least one non-governmental organisation, Sierra Club, have written Dominion is advancing the proejct with 220 12MW machines for the array that it expects to build in three 880MW stages between 2024 through 2026.
