Local chemical group Unipar and Ambev, the producer of Budweiser beer in Brazil, will invest R$1.2bn ($152m) to power their businesses with wind energy as they join a growing number of companies taking equity stakes in projects serving the unregulated market.
Unipar has signed a joint venture with AES Tietê, the local unit of US utility AES Corp, to invest R$620m in a 155MW wind farm in the northeastern state of Bahia.
