Danish OEM Vestas has won an order from Enlight Renewable Energy for the 113MW Malarberget wind project in Sweden, around 150km (93 miles) north-west of Stockholm.

The deal, through which Vestas will supply 27 of its V150-4.2MW turbines for the Israeli develper's project, also includes a 30-year service agreement to optimise energy production for the lifetime of the project.

“Enlight is expanding in rapid pace with special focus on merchant markets and sees Vestas as a strong player to take part and contribute to this significant growth,” said Enlight chief executive Gilad Yavetz.

“This order underlines the V150-4.2MW turbine’s excellent fit with Sweden’s wind conditions and our market leading position in Sweden,” said Vestas vice president, sales north & west Christer Baden Hansen.

Hansen said the developing partnership with Enlight for Malarberget demonstrated Vestas’ “strong experience and track record operating in a merchant environment”.

Vestas said with this project it surpasses a 400MW order intake for the V150-4.2MW turbine in Sweden. Malarberget is the OEM’s third order for the model in the country this year, taking the its total order intake in Sweden over recent years to 4.3GW.

Delivery of the turbines, which will feature Vestas’ SCADA solution designed to lower turbine downtime and optimise energy output, is scheduled for the third quarter of 2020, while commissioning is expected to start in the fourth quarter of the same year.

Enlight bought the Malarberget wind farm in June from German renewables oufit PNE, with the project’s developer, VKS Vindkraft Sverige, staying onboard to build the wind farm .
