Wobben Windpower, the Brazilian subsidiary of German turbine OEM Enercon, has laid off 370 workers at its factory in the state of São Paulo, said local metallurgy workers trade union SMetal.

According to a statement from the union, the company has now shut down blade production lines and has only kept the unit's administrative offices open.

SMetal linked the lay-offs directly to a lack of clear policies for the wind power sector in Brazil.
