Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has won an order to supply 23 of its N149/4.0-4.5MW turbines for the 110MW Söke wind farm in western Turkey.

The OEM will supply the machines in a 4.8MW mode for customer and future operator Ulusoy Enerji to the wind farm near the city of Aydin, where average annual wind speeds of 6.5 metres per second prevail.

"I am delighted that we were able to assure our new customer of the advantages of the N149/4.0-4.5 in terms of yield,” Nordex chief sales officer Patxi Landa said.

“This is Ulusoy Enerji's first wind project, and for the Nordex Group, another reference project with turbines from the Delta4000 series, this time in Turkey."

Rotor blades, anchor cages and towers will be built in Turkey, entitling Ulusoy to higher feed-in remuneration according to the country’s local content regulations.

Nordex said it has a 26.7% installed wind capacity market share in the country, with 2.04GW already installed. Next to Söke, another 266MW in Nordex machines are planned for installation in the country by the end of next year.
