The last of 31 monopile-based MHI Vestas turbines is in at Northland Power’s 269MW Deutsche Bucht wind farm off Germany, leaving only a pair of mono-bucket foundation units to install for the development to be complete.
Installation of 8.4MW V164s was carried out by Van Oord’s Aeolus construction vessel in water depths of some 40 metres in the North Sea.
“The project reached another great achievement with the installation of the 31 wind turbines. We are proud of the Deutsche Bucht project team and their partners contributing to the rapid construction of the wind farm,” said Deutsche Bucht project director Jens Poulsen,
Flemming Ougaard, MHI Vestas chief operations officer, added: “The timely installation of these turbines is a testament to the installation team, our partners, and the collective expertise within this industry.”
Deutsche Bucht began flowing power to the grid in July and, by the end of 2019, will be producing 1.1 million MWh of power annually, meeting the demand of some 328,000 households.
