GE Renewable Energy is in line for one of the biggest US wind industry supply contracts this decade – almost 1.5GW of turbines for three projects in Oklahoma that American Electric Power (AEP) is sponsoring, the giant utility holding company revealed.

While AEP did not say what turbine models the 999MW Traverse, 287MW Maverick and 199MW Sundance projects will employ, selection of GE is a major win for the US OEM which has been running neck-and-neck with Vestas for leadership in its red-hot home wind market.
