TSOs Energinet and National Grid have handed out major contracts for Viking Link, the 1.4GW interconnector between the UK and Denmark that will help transmission of renewable power across Europe.
Italian giant Prysmian has won a €700m ($781m) turnkey deal for the design, manufacture and installation of the 1,250km submarine element – made up of twin cables – and 135km of land cabling at the UK end.
