Georgia Power will add 2.26GW of new renewables power generation and 80MW of battery storage by 2024, as electric utilities in the US Southeast accelerate their transition from coal to cleaner energy sources.

The new commitment will increase its renewable power generation to 5.39GW, according to the company’s Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) that was unanimously approved by utility regulators at the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC).
