Construction of Chile’s 183MW San Gabriel wind farm poses its share of engineering challenges – not least transporting the nearly 1,000 turbine components making up the $300m Acciona development between the port of Lirquén and the project site near to the town of Renaico some 230km inland.

“The sheer size, weight and volume of components meant that the route had to be carefully surveyed and planned,” said transport contractor ALE.
