Several prominent Democratic lawmakers have re-introduced legislation in the US Congress that would extend the main federal offshore wind subsidy through 2025, a move they contend would provide policy certainty for a sector “crucial” for the country’s clean energy future.

A new element in the bill is that offshore wind projects located in inland navigable waters, including the five Great Lakes and in US territorial seas around American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands, would also be eligible for the subsidy.
