For Anders Runevad, chief executive of Vestas — who is stepping down from his position in August — one of the keys to the future of the wind industry is to maximise the output from wind farms, including its absorption onto the grid.

With this, at least partly, in mind, the world’s number-one turbine maker recently bought US analytics company Utopus Insights, as well as a 25% stake in renewables developer Sowitec (with the option to buy the rest of the company), and is also pursuing hybrid projects involving wind turbines, solar panels and batteries.
