The US wind industry on 31 March had a record 39.1GW of wind projects either under construction or in advanced development, setting the stage for 40% near-term growth in generating capacity nationwide, according to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).

The US had 97.2GW of installed wind power capacity on 31 March. Despite difficult winter conditions across the main wind belt in the country’s interior, the industry brought 841MW of projects online in the first quarter.
