Engie has entered the top-tier of wind power capacity owners in Brazil after bringing its 360MW Umburanas complex in the northeastern state of Bahia into full commercial operation.

The French-Belgian company now has 900MW of nameplate generation capacity in Latin America's largest wind market - one that is consolidating among a few large owners and expanding at 1GW/year. The country has plans to double the 15GW of installed capacity within a decade.
