Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has snatched away 1GW of orders from GE Renewable Energy (GERE) for the trio of long-delayed 500MW wind farms being built by Eolien Maritime France (EMF) off France that the US power technology giant was originally cued up to supply solo.

The German-Spanish OEM will deliver a batch of its 7MW SWT-7.0-154 DDs under a framework agreement for two of the developer's Calvados (formerly Courseulles-sur-Mer), Saint-Nazaire and Fécamp projects – first tendered in 2012, with GERE in the frame to supply 500MW of its 6MW Haliade 150s to the first of the developments “to be cleared of any legal recourse” following long-running entanglements in the French courts.
