The Nordex Group has won its first order to a destination outside Europe for turbines from its Delta4000 series, for four phases of the Chubut Norte wind farm in Argentina.

The contract has been awarded by independent power producer Genneia, for which Nordex is already installing the 113MW Pomona I & II projects.

Nordex will supply 38 of its N149/4.0-4.5MW machines (with an installed capacity of 4.38MW each) for the Chubut Norte projects near Puerto Madryn in the province of Chubut in the southern part of the Latin American country.

The German-Spanish manufacturer at the WindEurope conference and trade fair will present new models of the Delta4000 series with up to 5MW in capacity.

Newer, more powerful turbines have helped halting a damaging decline in turbine prices, Nordex chief executive José Luis Blanco has told Recharge in an interview.

Installation is scheduled for the third quarter of 2019.

The order comes with a multi-year service contract.
