German-Spanish OEM Siemens Gamesa became the first in Brazil to get official approval to shift to a larger locally-made turbine, as the country’s wind industry moves towards 3-4MW machines from the previously dominant 2MW platforms.

The OEM announced that it will assemble locally the SG 3.4-132, which will be the biggest platform manufactured in Brazil and surpass Nordex Group’s 3MW AW125 turbine that up to now was the country’s largest locally-produced turbine.
