The UK’s first offshore wind farm, the 4MW Blyth project off the Northumberland coast in the North-east of England, is being decommissioned by developer E.ON.

The two-turbine development, brought online in 2000 by a consortium led by the German utility, supplied over 2,000 area homes and saved 4,520 tonnes of carbon dioxide during each year of its operation.
