US wind-tower manufacturer Broadwind Energy has seen little relief on cost pressure from the anticipated installation boom in 2019-21, as steel tariffs and imported towers from Asia continue to weigh on domestic producers.

Broadwind, which operates tower factories in Texas and the upper Midwest, had a “difficult” 2018, says chief executive Stephanie Kushner. Revenues tumbled and the company's full-year net loss soared to $24m due to impairment charges.
