Foreign players have a fighting chance of grabbing a significant share of a 6GW mega-project planned by state-run utility SPIC, in what could be a transformative deal for a western OEM in China, Recharge has learned.

The Ulanqab development in Inner Mongolia – billed by SPIC as the world’s largest onshore wind project and a pioneer of zero-subsidy development in China – could mark a sea change in the country's wind sector, which for years has been dominated by local turbine suppliers, market observers believe.
