Fraught by difficulties in closing financing for renewable energy projects due to Argentina’s macroeconomic woes, the winners of the country’s 2017 Round 2 tender have until the end of April to decide whether to forgo incentives and benefits in order to extend their deadlines, or race to finish building by late 2021.

“Taking into account the generalised delay in the reaching contractual milestones of the projects … the extension [will be structured] to meeting certain requisites that result in a benefit to power consumers,” the energy ministry said in a statement.
