Ingka Group, the owner of most IKEA furniture stores, for the first time has ventured into offshore wind in a race to meet its 2020 target of meeting its entire power consumption with electricity from renewable sources.
The company has spent over €200m ($225m) to acquire a quarter of the 402MW Veja Mate array in the German part of the North Sea, the country’s second largest.
