Siemens Gamesa shares rose sharply after the wind OEM posted higher first-quarter sales and a strong performance from its offshore business.

The group’s shares were trading 9% higher in Madrid following release of the Q1 figures – the company’s financial year is out of step with most other wind turbine groups.

The Spanish-German OEM pulled in €2.26bn in the October to December period, up 6% on year-earlier quarter.
