Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) – the utility responsible for the Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011 - has begun developing what could become Japan’s first major offshore wind farm surrounding a test turbine off Choshi, in the country’s Chiba prefecture.

The development at Choshi is the company’s first step in a plan to eventually build 2 to 3GW in offshore capacity in Japan within the next ten years, TEPCO told Recharge.
