US renewables developer Invenergy has financed and begun construction of its 302MW Santa Rita East wind project in central Texas, and agreed to sell a 75% stake to utility group American Electric Power (AEP) upon completion later this year.

Last year Chicago-based Invenergy completed the first 300MW Santa Rita project, which was sold to Berkshire Hathaway Energy. The follow-on Santa Rita East, like its predecessor, will use GE turbines.
