Engineering outfit Atkins has been named to handle design of the jackets for Ailes Marines’ Saint Brieuc wind farm off France, nudging ahead development plans for the long-gestating 496MW project.
The work-scope for the contractor, owned by the SNC-Lavalin Group, encompasses front-end engineering and detailed design (FEED) of 62 steel substructures for the Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines selected for the wind farm, being developed by a consortium made up of Iberdrola, Renewable Energy Systems and Caisse des Dépôts.
