ERCOT, the main electric grid in Texas, remains the hottest wind energy market in the Americas as 2019 commences with 40.2GW of capacity in various stages of development, according to its latest data through 31 October last year.

About 6.3GW of that planned capacity has firm interconnection agreements and could get built this year. ERCOT projected about 22.8GW of wind installations within its service territory, which comprises much of the state’s territory and 90% of its electric load, by the end of last year.
