New ramp-up for Russian wind as first tower plant opens

WRS Towers, a consortium led by Spanish company Windar Renovables, has started operations at Russia’s first wind turbine tower factory that by the end of 2020 will be able to produce enough for up to 300MW of installations annually.

Windar holds 51% of the new plant in Taganrog in Russia’s Rostov region, with the remainder equally divided between Russian companies Rusnano and Severstal.
