Italian energy giant Enel Green Power (EGP) exited Uruguay’s renewable energy sector after selling its 50MW Melowind wind farm for $120m to Atlantica Yield, the London-based, US-listed infrastructure operator.

The sale is part of EGP’s programme to divest non-core assets in order to reallocate resources to faster growth areas or regions, the company said a statement.

The deal will boost Atlantica Yield’s wind capacity in Uruguay to 150MW, building on the two 50MW wind farms it already owns in the country.
