The EDPR-led 950MW, £2.6bn ($3.3bn) Moray East offshore wind project has announced financial close and confirmed the biggest turbine deal in the history of MHI Vestas.

Moray East – sited in the Outer Moray Firth off northeast Scotland – will use 100 V164-9.5 MW turbines supplied by the Danish-Japanese OEM, which is half-owned by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

Along with France’s Engie, Mitsubishi is a minority shareholder in Moray East, which is led by Portuguese renewables group EDPR with a 43.3%
