Leading floating wind power players have called on the French government to build in as much as 5GW of offshore capacity for the fast-emerging technology to national five-year strategic energy plans that are set to be announced in the coming days.

Eolfi, Ideol, Naval Energies, Principle Power, Quadran and SBM Offshore are pushing for Paris to set out tenders for 3-5GW of floating wind by 2030 as part of the Programmation Pluriannuelle de l’Énergie (PPE), starting with three 250MW projects located in waters of the Britanny, Occitanie and Mediterranean regions next year.
