Brazil’s total wind power base has reached 14.3GW after more than 1.5GW was built so far this year – all based on PPAs signed before 2016, signalling that 2018 will see the last significant addition of new capacity until 2022.

The data was compiled by the Brazilian Wind Power Association (ABEEólica), which believes that the figure indicates the strength of a sector that currently operates 7,000 wind turbines and accounts for 12% of the country’s total installed power capacity.
